My ESC Review (English and Portuguese)
Albania / Albânia Ktheju tokës by "Jonida Maliqi" I did not like the live presentation of this song for the first time I watched it but it has growing in me since them, it is a really complicated song to perform and the song has an evolution and is growing. It started low and finishes powerful and emotional. Armenia / Armênia Walking Out by "Srbuk" Another song about a heart breaking, but this was powerful with an performance and her voice made the song sound like an alt pop song and I really liked that. The video and lyrics are so beautiful, oh my god.
Australia / Austrália Zero Gravity by "Kate Miller-Heidke" This song is awesome, ok that I said this too many times in this ESC review before the contest, but I really liked that this wined in Australia. This song is simple but pass a message really simple, nothing will bring me down.
Austria / Aústria Limits by "PÆNDA" Her voice is amazing, it's a slow song with so many emotion in it and good lyrics. Maybe It'll grow on me in the next time I hear it, for now it's just one more song on the contest, sadly.
Azerbaijan / Azerbaijão Truth by "Chingiz" This is one Azerbaijani Pop, I really like the pop vibes and I'm always a good surprise how Azerbaijan makes pop so good with great elements and show how to do a real show with their culture.
Belarus / Bielorússia Like It by "ZENA" Pop and catchy, it's a great song and I 'like it' a lot, it has a nice beat and the live version makes something really great at the semi.
Belgium / Bélgica Wake Up by "Eliot" Another amazing song, his vocals are amazing and this really feels like a good year to Belgium, the lyrics push the music forward and if the performance is half as powerful than the music video, we will see he in final.
Croatia / Croácia The Dream by "Roko" His voice is amazing and that song pass me emotion and power, congratulations Croatia, you made it. Really liked how this song escalated from great to excellent.
Cyprus / Chipre Replay by "Tamta" Cyprus is all pop again, after Fuego success they are trying again with a big Cypriot artist in Replay. I really like the feel of the song, already it is one of the favorites but well... We don't know the future
Czech Republic / República Checa Friend of a Friend by "Lake Malawi" Liked this song, but only liked and find it good. It delivers good vocals and catchy tunes, but nothing else... It's sad because first time I listened I feel it more and it came downwards to me. :/
Denmark / Dinamarca Love is Forever by "Leonora" This song is good but flat, I feel that song hasn't anything special about it and is flat... This song is better in French, not in English. I really liked the French part.
Estonia / Estônia Storm by "Victor Crone" I like this song but reminds me something that I hate, the name of the thing is american country music and his voice is very american country. It became better in the verse; this song has an evolution and became great.
Finland / Finlândia Look Away by "Darude feat. Sebastian Rejman" To be sincere, I liked the second place in the final much more, but that wasn't bad at all, it's a good EDM Music with vocals... It's not Darude Sandstorm.
France / França Roi by "Bilal Hassani" This is rare to say, I didn't liked the French entry and I feel like he was choose because he is social media famous and not because of his talent, his voice is good but the verse and the live vocals didn't help it. My main problem is really how the verse is constructed.
Georgia / Geórgia Sul tsin iare by "Oto Nemsadze" Georgia is such an awesome country and always sent amazing artists, but I feel that song is incomplete and his voice wasn't totally delivered to the audience. I'm sorry to say that my expectations with this song are low, very low... :(
Germany / Alemanha Sister by "S!sters" Thank you Germany, I didn't need much work to hate your choice. That's isn't creative at all and it's a flat song. Nothing, really nothing special about it. It would die in the semifinals, but it's really sad that we will see that in the finals... :(
Greece / Grécia Better Love by "Katerine Duska" This is a year of surprises, normally we see generic pop sent by Greece and this is another powerful song with great vocals and lyrics, this made my life so complicated because by now I can't put this song in a bad position.
Hungary / Hungria Az én apám by "Joci Pápai" First time I listening to him on ESC I found the music somehow offensive even did not knowing the lyrics, this song sounds better and pass a beautiful message, and again, sounds better than his first attempt in ESC.
Iceland / Islândia Hatrið mun sigra by "Hatari" This is different, but this is 'Lordi' different, a winner for being more clear. This is so good and mixes so many good things in music... Nice one Iceland!
Ireland / Irlanda 22 by "Sarah McTernan" This song lacks something and I don't know what it is, but it's lacking something that will makes them go into the finals, sorry Ireland but you maybe It'll die in semifinals... :/
Israel / Israel Home by "Kobi Marimi" For real, I did not expect anything like this from Israel and I'm very glad with that I encountered that and was surprised by that. Really, it one of my favorite songs for this year, for me it's an 'automatically qualified country' who deserves to be in Final
Italy / Itália Soldi by "Mahmood" Italy choose well, because this song has strong lyrics, video and song. His voice is really amazing, and I really liked this song at all. Another 'already qualified' song that for me deserves to be in Final
Latvia / Letônia That Night by "Caroussel" Ok, this is american country and this upsets me because I liked her voice, but man... I hate american country music.
Lithuania / Lituânia Run With the Lions by "Jurij Veklenko" I liked his voice live, but another time I see a problem with the song and not the artist, the lyrics feel weak and the song is flat. I think he has a really good potential, but the song doesn't help him.
Malta / Malta Chameleon by "Michela" Another really pop song, this time from Malta and I really liked that song too... I'm a Pop Guy, I can say that this is just growing in me and I hope that goes to the final.
Modolva / Moldávia Stay by "Anna Odobescu" We don't expected a serious song from Moldova, most of the times we expect a pop generic song with a big performance, a great exception is 'O Mie' on 2013 and again this year, with a song about a heartbreaking with great vocals.
Montenegro / Montenegro Heaven by "D Mol" I really didn't understand why this song have so much hate for some people, it's a great song from a great country (I like Montenegro for reasons) and for me it could be in the final for sure. Great vocals and they are really a band that completes itself a lot.
Netherlands / Países Baixos Arcade by "Duncan Laurence" This video is so conceptual and I liked how it looks, the song is an alternative pop and I really liked it, not my favorite but I hope that didn't flop... It's the Netherlands, we never know. The good thing that at least it's not american country music.
É a Holanda, nunca sabemos.
North Macedonia / Macedônia do Norte Proud by "Tamara Todevska" Woman/Girl Power. It is a strong message to put in a song and she made it and that's awesome, I'm proud to really like this song!
Poder feminino.
Norway / Noruega Spirit in The Sky by "KEiiNO" Watched the live version and listened to the studio version, there is some corrections that it could improve in live, some vocals seems off when you're compare both versions... But well, it's an earworm and it can't be off my mind, and many minds, and that will make maybe put they in the final.
Poland / Polônia Fire of Love (Pali się) by "Tulia" First time listening this entirely and really like the song, it's a rock melody in Polish and sounds awesome. It surely will grow in me and I will be really upset to not see that in the final, please Europe (and Australia), don't let this happen.
Portugal / Portugal Telemóveis by "Conan Osiris" I'm going to break my cellphone if It didn't pass to the final, this song is somehow a masterpiece and something we didn't expected from Portugal... The lyrics has no verse and it uses a very powerful word that only exists in Portuguese: Saudade
Romania / Romênia On A Sunday by "Ester Peony" Another song that I did not liked in the first time, the song is good and did not grown on me, nothing at all and It still find a really weak song in a powerful year. Her voice is just good, like the song.
Russia / Rússia Scream by "Sergey Lazarev" Sergey Lazarev is one of the returning artists of this year, he is known with by the pop songs, and Scream definitely isn’t a pop song, it shows his voice and great talent and also how Russia wants to win ESC again, also, I hope the live presentation is great like the music video.
San Marino / San Marino Say Na Na Na by "Serhat" San Marino is my favorite micronation in ESC, but I already know that this will be flopping in the semifinals, is a generic pop in a really strong year in ESC, this could be in final... In 2010. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Serbia / Sérvia Kruna by "Nevena Božović" She has the voice, the song and the rhythm fit in his voice, I feel Serbia in this song and that's awesome, to feel a country spirit in a song that seems, at least for me, powerful.
Slovenia / Eslovênia Sebi by "Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl" Well, another alternative Pop but this time without any strong vocals. The song seems kinda flat and that's not good in this year.
Spain / Espanha La Venda by "Miki" La Venda Ya Cayo!!! I really loved that song and how it sounds and feels, the music video and studio version didn't pass the real happiness of the song and don't deliver how Miki delivers it live. This is a Spanish live bop, and again, if competed in semi I think that this could pass to the finals.
Sweden / Suécia Too Late For Love by "John Lundvik" Another really nice surprise that I wasn't expecting, this song is pop and powerful, the fact that the video is a live version and shows how good he sings live is a bonus, this is a full Eurovision performance.
Switzerland / Suiça She Got Me by "Luca Hänni" This song is awesome and the singer delivers it to us, it's a pop song with pop lyrics and pop dance. But I can't say that I didn't like and want it in the finals, please pass
United Kingdom / Reino Unido Bigger Than Us by "Michael Rice" UK should sent Mans, because the interval act was better than this song... He has a nice voice but, the song is bad and it was a poor choice for UK. Maybe this song could die in Semi, but sadly UK is auto qualified country.

7’SCARLET
Release Date: May 25, 2018 (North America) Developers:  Toybox Inc, Otomate Publishers:  Idea Factory, Aksys Games Platforms:  PS Vita ESRB Rating: T (Teen)
As the second title released by Aksys Games for their Summer Mystery Bundle, 7’scarlet offers one gripping mystery-solving game play amplified with a cute touch of romance.
Walkthroughs:
Hino Kagutsuchi Isora Amari Toa Kushinada Sosuke Tatehira Yuzuki Murakumo True Route & Final Character
  Read the game’s synopsis here.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS Otome Visual Novels are either a hit or a miss when it comes to it’s story narratives. Just like Collar x Malice, 7’scarlet did one hell of a job foregoing a very intriguing mystery-type plot line while having a few romantic events as an additive to its overarching deep story. Like a really good book or a TV series, it was so hard to brush off the game’s story build-up as it became curiously engaging in each chapter you progress.
With the help of it’s unique visuals and animations, playing 7’scarlet was close to watching your favorite anime series.
Tumblr media
ART One of the things I really enjoyed while playing 7’scarlet was seeing its astonishing BG images. It’s just so pretty, it’s like wallpaper material, no kidding! (giggle)
Tumblr media
. The game’s artist was non other than, Kurahana Chinatsu an illustrator who’s also famous for her other popular works such as the character designs for Uta no Prince-Sama, Lamento (Beyond the Void), and Togainu no Chi.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Looking at these lovely BG images reminded me of browsing through expensive art catalogs!
Tumblr media
SOUNDTRACK AND VOICE ACTING There are two opening themes, “World’s End Syndrome” and “LOVESICK”, you can unlock the latter after finishing a certain route in the game. The BGMs are good too, some are rather simple but very fitting for the game’s setting and story transitions. Heck, I ended up buying the whole 7’scarlet soundtrack in iTunes.
And like any other game, there will always be that one song you’ll end up getting stuck with, even after completing  the game. Dat-one-song that gave you so much FEELS. In 7’scarlet, mine would have to be the song “Starry”.
  Voice Acting
Nobunaga Shimazaki “Hino“ – Napoleon (Ikevamp), Kurogane Naoto (BlazBlue), Mitsuhide (Sengoku Nightblood)
Tetsuya Kakihara “Isora“ – Shin (Amnesia), Victor Frankenstein (Code Realize), Karasuba (Pyschedelica BB), Toki Tanba (Charming Empire)
Showtaro Morikubo “Toa“ – Impey (Code Realize), Reiji (Uta no Prince-sama), Okita (Hakuoki)
Chiharu Sawashiro “Sosuke“ – Shila (Snow White and the Red hair), Hero (Caligula Effect)
Shinichirou Miki “Yuzuki“ – Hijikata (Hakuoki), Nesso Galland (Black Wolves Saga), Bucket-Sensei (Bad Apple Wars)
Sanae Kobayashi “Yuki“ – Sara Nome (Macross Zero), Nagisa (Maid Sama)
Hiroki Yasumoto “Mr. Karasuma“ – Azrael (BlazBlue), Nidai Nekomaru (Danganropa V3), Hyuga (KLAP)
Hiroki Takahashi “Kagura Tsukuyomi“ – Rayne (Neo Angelique Abyss), Otohiko (Kamisama Kiss), Koujaku (DRAMAtical Murder)
Daisuke Kishio “Yasu“ – Azusa (Diabolik Lovers), Mizushima Arata (Kiniro no Corda: Bluesky), Kuzuryuu (Danganropa V3)
Chiwa Saito “Yua“ – Aoi Asahina (Danganropa V3), Taokaka (BlazBlue), Domina (Period Cube), Fate (Caster)
Tumblr media
  MAIN CHARACTERS (SPOILER FREE)
Tumblr media
Recommended play order:
1)Hino 2)Isora 3)Toa – only unlocks after finishing Hino and Isora’s good ending 4)Sosuke – only unlocks after finishing Toa’s good ending 5)Yuzuki – only unlocks after finishing all of the character’s good ending
  Hino Kagutsuchi
Childhood friend
Sporty
Dork
Hino’s story was cute. It had very few spoilers regarding the game’s overarching plot but his route did a good job catering as a story build-up for the oncoming routes you’ll get in to after finishing the first two recommended ones (his and Isora’s). I enjoyed the fact that Hino was physically a jock on the outside but covertly the biggest dork on the inside
Tumblr media
(the guy fangirls on ‘kawaii’ things! Awww). His romance ventured more into the friendship-type-love rather than a mature one. His route wasn’t my favorite, but it was definitely a good start, nevertheless.
Tumblr media
  Isora Amari
Best Chef
Hot tempered
Jealous
Yandere
Just like Hino’s route, Isora’s story offers very few spoilers of the game’s underlying plot but was well written enough to create a very mysterious atmosphere of the town, Okunezato. Isora’s character depth was also deeper than I expected and I wished the writers expounded more on the justification of this character’s actions rather than just throwing it on the spot. Despite this, I love Isora Amari’s story. It had great pacing, enough to give you that creep factor you seek in every mystery-themed visual novel. His romance, on the other hand may or may not suit everyone’s preferences. Although I personally enjoyed it, I can understand how it may not work for some. ┐(︶▽︶)┌
Tumblr media
  Toa Kushinada
Cat mom
Clumsy af
Color blind
such a sweet boi!
So my first impression with Toa was: “Really?! I have to romance this clumsy nerd, seriously, game?”. Then I started playing his route just to get it over with and oh my goodness! I did not expected the sudden turn of events!
As I’ve probably mentioned repeatedly on my previous reviews… I absolutely love it when a game catches you off guard, and this route takes the cake! I was left speechless.  I couldn’t talk more about his story without going into spoiler territory so I’ll leave it at this: Toa was such a great character and he deserves all the love in the world! Best boy (imo), one that’s definitely unforgettable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
  Sosuke Tatehira
Smart
Neat freak!
Best Doctor
OC!
If there was one route that got me at the edge of my seat in 7’scarlet ~ it was definitely Sosuke’s. His story had great pacing where it started off very light and warm then surprisingly escalated into a few bemusing affairs. His route also introduced a more definitive and deeper story regarding the mysteries surrounding the town of Okunezato. While the suspense was a little overwhelming in this route, I wanted to commend on how the romance never took a back seat in Sosuke’s story. His relationship with the heroine felt genuinely real and I love both his and Ichiko’s character development. I also loved the fact that Sosuke was such a neat freak and becomes very obsessive-compulsive about something so simple such as a goldfish scooping game! The perfect husbando, if you ask me! (chuckles)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
  Yuzuki Murakumo
Jerk Boss
Hot!!!
Intense
Tsundere
While the suspense was building up in Sosuke’s previous route, Yuzuki’s story on the other hand was a power house of thrill and drama coupled with a few action packed scenes and romantic events… And although it happened so fast, all at the same time, I’ve got to say it was paced really well that it didn’t came out too forced nor too overwhelming with information. I personally love Yuzuki’s character. He’s cold and irritable on the outside but inside his icy personality is one very warm fluffy husbando!
Tumblr media
His story was probably the most compelling as far as solving the mysteries of Okunezato goes.
Tumblr media
  Ichiko Hanamaki (You)
amnesiac heroine (explained in ??? ‘s route)
hates strawberries (explained in ??? ‘s route)
can’t swim (explained in ??? ‘s route)
Despite the the main protagonist’s naivety and recklessness to a point where you’d clearly have to question this heroine’s sense of danger
Tumblr media
(laughs), Ichiko Hanamaki had a couple of good points up her sleeve such as her strong will and determination to look for her disappeared older brother in spite of being absolutely clueless on where to begin. Another enjoyable aspect, was how this heroine sometimes gets shamelessly clumsy in declaring her love to the gentleman of her liking. She had a couple of funny moments that got me all “wtf lol” ~ so it was never a dull moment playing her as the MC.
Tumblr media
And it gets better… So the story doesn’t really end there. After finishing Hino, Isora, Toa, Sosuke, and Yuzuki’s route. Two more routes unlocks in this game.
Who is the culprit?
Tumblr media
Another factor why this game was so entertaining to me was that it reminded me of playing Mafiascum; where each player gets to accuse anybody as the culprit and the accused needs to present alibis to which another player/s confirms it to prove his innocence.
As someone who’s been playing mafiascum online for a long time, the game’s conclusion was somewhat predictable but I’ve got to admit, it was one gripping read and the “True Ending” was painfully heartbreaking.
  TRAILER
  OVERALL THOUGHTS?
Tumblr media
7’scarlet is a very well written mystery themed visual novel. While the story appeared so simple, the events where paced so good that the rise and fall of tension as you unravel the mysteries remained suspenseful enough to keep you wanting for more.
I had a couple of moments where I really couldn’t put down the game for a second just to eat or sleep because I had to know, I NEEED to know what will happen next!
Tumblr media
Truth be told, I had never expected I’d get so emotionally attached to this game. It’s really one gripping read. It’s one of those titles that’s hard to get over with even after finishing the game play. I think an overall rating of 4.5/5 is an appropriate mark for 7’scarlet. The rest of the .05 completing the perfect score is just me wishing they could’ve done more with the last secret route as I did felt it to be a little lacking as far as how the story concluded.
I would say the animation and movie clips were an additional plus points. Although without it, the game still excels as one of the most compelling stories an otome game has to offer. Do I recommend this game? YESSSS! If you’re looking for a good mystery-romance themed visual novel with great art, music, animation and one unforgettable story that will rob you of words, 7’scarlet is the perfect choice. All your money’s worth it too.

An Eternal Crown funny moments
The three Warriors charging forward to fill the three Ladies' traditional role and save Sarisa from the monstrous snake, only to halt with their spears in midair as Sarisa gains a second wind and beheads the snake herself. Also, their bickering a la the Ladies about who gets to stay and guard Sarisa, but a very not-unconscious Sarisa breaking up the fight and reminding them that she's armed and can guard herself.
Instead of claiming that she killed the snake like Papageno does, Lorikeet's lie is that she's the "goddess of birds," who protects the god-king Vorteyo from all danger with an army of fighting parrots.
Vorteyo warning Sarisa that Anaia is a skilled manipulator and might have seduced Zeran, yet as he says this he's basically being like this toward Sarisa.
Zeran trying to bow to Anaia before he confesses that he ran away to see his father, but having a hard time doing it, because the scared Lorikeet is clinging to his shoulders from behind all the while.
Lorikeet showing her only trace of "feminine wiles" by pretending to faint to try to get out of finishing the initiation trials. (Though does that really count as feminine wiles when Papageno does it too in the original opera?)
Lorikeet effectively spoofing Shakespeare's Ophelia twice. First when she plunges out of a tree into a pond when a branch breaks, the same way Ophelia allegedly falls to her death in the brook (but since the water is shallow, it becomes a slapstick moment instead of tragic), and later, when she resolves to drown herself in her romantic woe (a more "romantic" and "feminine" substitute for Papageno's hanging), she evokes the language of Queen Gertrude's willow speech as she melodramatically imagines her own corpse floating like a mermaid entwined with water lilies. The same scene also includes spoofy shoutouts to Monteverdi's "Lamento della ninfa" and to the Countess's aria "Porgi amor" from The Marriage of Figaro.
song of the sky funny moments a non exhaustive list
- pamina offhandedly noting that sarastro‘s kids are dead and then essentially going “good lol”
- similarly pamina daydreaming abt killing sarastro while sarastro’s apprentice is Literally right there
- sarastro going “oh no monostatos isn’t my adopted son why does he keep saying that. i genuinely forget he exists sometimes lol” while monostatos is, again, Literally right there
- tamino getting the shit beaten out of him like 5 separate times in the first 6 chapters
- ”so why were they putting you in a literal medieval torture device“ ”nah dw about it. it’s fine just sorta happens sometimes”
- similarly “hey papageno i have a psychological need for approval and i only value myself based on how others view me. if i don’t please everyone then i shall have no purpose” “jeez have you tried, like, not fucking worrying about it dude”
- really 90% of what the starblazer and sarastro do is funny like it’s fucked up but also good lord they’re so pathetic
- nearly everyone (except for papageno anyway.) knowing who tamino is. they just collectively decide not to tell him abt his identity for the entire first third of the story bc it would be an awkward conversation
- the starblazer deciding someone else should rescue her daughter bc she can’t be fucked to actually like. fight sarastro herself (for now)
- the fact sarastro kidnapped pamina in the first place bc he couldn’t be fucked to actually fight the starblazer either
- pamina among us imposter arc

I’ve changed my page info/description to reflect what N+C fandom projects I’m currently working on. Further details are below the cut.
But first... reminder that any of you are more than welcome to message me anytime! I joined this site in large part for the community, so if you want to talk N+C I’d be more than happy to get to know you. You don’t need to have the same fav characters/pairings as me to talk to me (I’m entertained with how many friends I’ve made here who initially didn’t think I would talk to them because of their preferred pairings). As far as I’m concerned, diversity is the spice of life. <3
Now, on to projects...
- I successfully figured out how to make language patches for the N+C games! Yay! I’m working on Osu Boys (one of the N+C April Fools joke games) as a proof of concept. It’ll be finished shortly.
- I’d already started on TnC Poker as my original “learn to patch” game before @seragaki-yuki wisely suggested Osu Boys as a better starting project. There is actually a TON of dialog/text in TnC poker, believe it or not, so I’m picking away at it slowly between other projects.
- I definitely plan on making a patch for Rhythm Carnival as soon as I get a copy. Most of the text is actually what I’ve already translated for the 10th Anniversary video, so it shouldn’t take too long to do once I get started on it.
- I plan on making patches for TnC Typing and True Blood once the others are finished. I have hard copies of both already. I’m *hoping* to recruit some help on the translation front prior to attempting these games, though, since I feel like it’s a bigger deal if I screw things up. FYI, the actual typing portion of TnC Typing will still be in Japanese (both kana and romanji), because that’s just how the game is set up. It’s supposed to help you learn to type in Japanese - you don’t need to be able to understand it, just copy the letters on the screen.
- Regarding the DMMd games, I don’t want to attempt to patch Re:Code before a better translation patch for DMMd/Re:Connect is made, otherwise all of the same mistakes will just be repeated over again. I was pretty late to the N+C fandom, but I have definitely picked up on how unhappy many fans seem to be with the original translation (which frankly scares me a bit, since my own translation skills are far from perfect). I’ve sort of put out antennae to find some of the other fans who have done work on re-translating DMMd. Since I’m already working on so many other things, I won’t aggressively pursue them right now, but if other fans want these games translated/re-translated badly enough to be willing to do some actual work on them, I’m definitely willing to help out in whatever ways I can to make sure that it happens. (Justice for Mink!)
- Regarding the other N+C mini games like Nyanda, Lamento Typing, and Chiral Mori... I don’t personally have any plans to work on them, but that might change if someone else was really inspired to translate these guys, wanted to pick them up as their own projects, and just needed an editor to turn them into an actual patch that people could use and play with.
- I seriously need to finish my own gift project for the N+C Exchange, so progress on the translation front will be a little slow for the next couple of weeks until the release date on August 31st. But I’ll pick right back up after that.
- I’m actually RPing now! That’s been a lot of fun. I RP Nano (TnC), but I have a merged DMMd/TnC universe if any DMMd RPers want to play with me (or just want to talk merged-universe conspiracy theories). Even if you don’t RP, you can always send me asks, anon or otherwise. I’m not too picky - I’m just happy to have an excuse to write.
- I really want to find more time to work on my original fanfic... I’m a much better writer than translator (I hope!). If I’m procrastinating on my other projects, there’s a good chance that it’s because I’m writing and don’t want to stop. Unsurprisingly the vast majority of original content that I write centers around Nano. Fair warning, I went really dark with some of it, even for N+C. I’ve also written a few DMMd fics, but... lately I just want to focus on Nano right now, because I find him to be a very inspirational muse.
- Our discord server is alive and very active, both on the project and social front. Lately we’ve been playing a N+C Cards Against Humanity game with a custom deck created by @kisamaa more-or-less in-character. It’s such a weird and fun cast. Depending on who’s on (since we’re all around the world) we’ve got: Nano, Shiki, Arbitro, Alpha, Akushima, Usui, Sly Blue, and Leaks. Shenanigans are inevitable. We’re starting up some new games, too. Send any of us a message if you want a link. (I’d just post the link here, but apparently the links expire and I’ve had a couple of people complain about it, so it’s easier to send them to folks directly.)
- I’m working on scanlations for several different doujinshi, it’s just been a little slower than usual on account of everything else I’m doing. I’m still focusing on Alpha and Nano doujinshi, with some Clear stuff thrown in for good measure. The next one that will be released is Experiment Time! which has a good combo of both sexiness (Alphas testing out their sexual functions in many different ways) and angsty existential robot problems. Once I get the three big doujins that are half-finished completed, I am going to start on Hiki’s three volume series “The Last Days.” It’s a very angsty BE!Clear/Aoba series designed to tear your heart out. Hiki is my fav CleAo artist, both because of her impressive artistic talent and her storytelling expertise. (And here I swore I’d never do BE!Clear... ah well, so much for that...)
- If you haven’t already heard, there is a really awesome and active new DMMd scanlation group that has recently formed and focuses primarily on NoiAo doujinshi (but are working on doujins for several other pairings as well). They’re looking for more translators, editors, and proofreaders, so contact @desamparo7, @seragaki-yuki, and/or @a-little-harmed-shinra if you want to help out with their projects.
- I’m still scanning/digitizing doujinshi for multiple people/groups. My make-shift “scanner” which I posted a tutorial for earlier still works better than any professional scanner I’ve tried. I should probably update my tutorial on post-processing, though - I’ve since gotten it down much faster with noticeably better results since I originally posted. (Speaking of which, if I’ve promised you something and haven’t given it to you yet, please remind me. It isn’t an intentional slight - there’s just a lot to keep track of sometimes and I get scatterbrained.)
- I’ve scanned all three of the 10 Years Archive books. I’ll get back to posting artwork from them shortly as I get them edited... I’ve been spending so much time on my Nano blog lately that I forgot my queue ran out on this one. XD I will post the full-spread 2-page images later in their entirety, because it takes some creative photoshop skills to get them to match up exactly and I just don’t have the time to do that right now. (But I will do it!)
- Random, but I’m so ridiculously excited to get a hold of that TnC benefits poster that came with the C92 Comiket Rhythm Carnival. Nano in a sparkly rainbow butterfly costume... seriously WTF? (It’s especially funny to me because I used to cosplay/RP Caterpillar many years ago when I still went to Nocturnal Wonderland... and I was just talking about how he reminds me of Nano. Apparently N+C thought so, too! Now I have this weird mental image of Nano sitting on a mushroom smoking hookah... and I’m not sure it’s any sillier than Nano in a sparkly butterfly costume holding a magic wand.)

Finally finished Lamento
And boy what a ride! Summary of me going through Lamento: Before: Wow! Finally the game is fully translated! This is gonna be a great fun time!  During beginning: Love it! A+++ GREAT! ... Huh ... wow that seems familiar *nervous laughing*  During later: @#$U*O#U*OGFHUIFSDJIOSGIOWERTU*(FAUIOGEJISDFJIO#*(FSUOIERFJISFD  I CAME TO HAVE A GOOD TIME I FEEL SO ATTACKED RIGHT NOW. *dead* After: *on the cold hard ground of a deserted battlefield* This is now most important game for me. aaaaaaaahhhhhh *places Lamento with list of all time favorite games*  Lol, but joking aside sharing the longer version of my thoughts and rambles under the cut.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I gotta say the experience I had going through this game was completely unexpected.  Just to be clear though, I watched the playthrough of the game on youtube because I have an old laptop running linux so even with the game completely translated after all this time (been waiting for years!!!) I’m not able to install it to my computer. So I’m glad I was still able to enjoy the game through watching it. Also if there are different versions, it’s the youtube ones that I am basing my experience on regarding the translations, which is an important point.  And despite the fact I knew about this game, I never looked anything up. So everything was completely new for me and I really didn’t know what to expect. I knew I would love it regardless because it is 1000% completely my aesthetic.  Heads up now for whoever actually is reading this, my connection to this game is entirely personal, so this is not going to be an objective reading of the story but rather my experience regardless of what anybody else may think.  I don’t really know where to start, and I’m not going to get into detail unless anyone is actually curious for me to elaborate, but everything about this game, from the genre, the color scheme and visual aesthetic, the characters/designs/writing, the style of music, and themes, all of it ended up hitting a very personal frequency for me that I was *not* prepared for. PARTICULARLY the themes that ended up bringing up issues that I’ve personally struggled with. It became a weird experience going through this where I knew what was going on in a fictional context, but it was literally like everyone was speaking in code. All of it referred to a very. specific. experience. Especially Konoe’s experience. I mean, sure there’s relating to a main character... and then there’s the “OH BOY DO I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH FFFFFFF” *cue stomach knots*   But despite all that, all of it was fine really until that one *SPOILER REVEAL* part. I just... wow. I really, did not know I could actually be triggered by something. I’m really very surprised. And I mean that in the literal sense of the word, where, despite not really having trauma that I know of???. the very specific lines and words spoken in that particular context (hence why pointing out which version i watched) of that ONE scene activated something in me that I just started bawling and had to pause a few times to breathe to get through it. That’s never happened to me before. And it wasn’t a one time thing either!! The first route was the worst reaction, but the second route was nearly just as difficult. And the third time, knowing what was going to happen (for a third time) was a lot better, but towards the end still had to pause once to breathe. And I know why now and which particular line it was from the third route.   I’m just literally flabbergasted how much of a wreck this game made me. But I feel it wasn’t an accident that I decided to go and play this game now during this particular point in my life where I’m working hard on some internal issues. The things I struggle with play right into the themes of this game. So, going in I expected a good time, coming out of it, it was more of a somber experience. Like a reminder of where I have been and where I need to go. And much more than what I can express here. So Lamento is a great game on it’s own, and maybe the objective commentary will come at a later time, but beyond that I personally feel it harkens to my own particular experience. So yeah this is something I’ll be keeping dear to me and dare I say giving it a seat next to Tales and Seraph.

Fandom: Lamento
Ooo… you picked the one N+C game I haven’t actually finished.  :P  I played Asato’s route, which took a whole freaking week, then started on Rai’s route… which as far as I can tell is never going to end.  XD  (Then I cheated and read ahead & watched some YouTube videos because I wanted to leave my computer chair at some point in my life.)So!  My impressions might change once I get through the entire thing, but…The character I least understand:
Well, I’m tempted to say Bardo, because I haven’t played any of his route yet.  But then, I don’t know all of the demons’ backstories yet, either.  At least, not entirely.
Interactions I enjoyed the most
I liked all of Konoe’s demon dream sequences and I was very entertained with Bojyo.  However, my favorite scene has to be when Leaks turns an entire village into zombies overnight and our heroes awake to a zombie cat army scratching at their door.  Leaks won a lot of awesome points in my book for that one.
The character who scares me the most
The village elder in Konoe’s hometown.  I find normalized systematic group-think more much horrifying than zombies.  The fact that he can get people to just go along with willingly sacrificing themselves like they have no choice in the matter is pretty appalling.  It reminds me of the short story “The Lottery.”
The character who is most like me
Bojyo - I’m an eccentric academic researcher with a twisted sense of humor who couldn’t care less about rules and convention, and thus I tend to identify most with reclusive mages and mad scientists.
Hottest looks character
Hmm… Shui is pretty hot.  It’s rare to see a guy pull off long red hair.  He’s both cute and mysterious.
One thing I dislike about my fave character
You don’t actually see much of Bojyo in the game.  N+C didn’t even bother to name him until after the game came out.
One thing I like about my hated character
Let’s see… the village elder… hmm… he dies?  You never see him again after Konoe flees the village?  He isn’t even important enough to have been given a name?  He doesn’t have any official merchandise?  I don’t think you ever actually even see a picture of him in the game?  …Do those count as “likes”?
A quote or scene that haunts me
At the very beginning of the game, Konoe runs into a couple in his village, one of whom has just been chosen as a sacrifice.  Rather than try to escape their fate, the one who is about to be eaten alive begs his crying partner to be the first to eat his flesh before the others can have their fill.
A death that left me indifferent
Hmm… Well, after the scene above, the surviving cat, after consuming the flesh of his beloved, comes down with the Sickness and dies.  It was certainly tragic that even after his partner’s self sacrifice he still died - but it seemed more humane for them to go out together than just sit around mourning until it was his turn to be eaten as well - by a far less caring crowd, no less.  Besides, I felt like he kind of wimped out by not showing up to his beloved’s execution - if he wasn’t going to do anything to prevent it (because RULES), he could have at least held his hand as he was torn limb from limb.
A character I wish died but didn’t
Depending on what route you take, and whether or not Leaks wins, most everyone dies at some point.  The demons are already dead.  Shui is already dead.  It’s the end of the world, right?  But more zombies is never a bad thing…
My ship that never sailed
Heh, well… I would’ve been a lot more into the game if Bojyo had a route to play.  That being said, it probably wouldn’t have been a hell of a lot different than Leaks/Shui, and that’s already canon.  I guess they didn’t want father and son to be THAT much alike.  :P  My old OTP from the Morrowind fandom (where I’ve been dwelling the past 14 years) was a Mage/Bard duo, so I’m somewhat partial to that dynamic.
